The Shriners in Europe
It all started in 1953 when the first Shrine Club was established in Heidelberg, Germany. Since then a number of Freemasons from Europe and also from the Near East were initiated as Shriners.
On August 21, 2010, the inaugural meeting of the European Shrine Center took place in Ludwigshafen. 41 master masons (from Germany, USA, Italy, Romania & Turkey) came to Ludwigshafen to attend the "Foundation Meeting" of the Emirate Shrine.
In 2011 Shriners International handed over the certificate to the newly founded and first Shrine Temple in Europe with the name, "Emirat".
The European Shriners have set themselves the task of using the funds of its fund seriously ill children to facilitate the transport from Europe & Middle East to the Shriner hospitals. There they are treated free of charge.
Since their inception, Shriners active in Europe have already transported more than 100 children.
The child never travels alone, but always with a companion from the family of the child, for their accommodation and food is also provided.
